Communities are powerful.
At Stokey Energy, we are ambitious. We have a global challenge on our hands in the form of escalating climate change - and to solve it, we need action from our communities as well as at the world’s negotiating tables.
So this is our chance as Stoke Newington and Hackney residents to do what we can. And we want you!
We need the encouragement, involvement and fighting spirit of residents, businesses, community groups - everyone who loves Stoke Newington and wants to help avert the climate crisis.
What we want to do for Stokey.
We want to see solar streets and heat-pump housing. We’re going to work to channel public and private funding into energy action that moves us away from extortionate fossil fuel prices - and puts power back into our communities.
We’re already putting solar panels on schools, cinemas and theatres and insulating watersports centres. We are proof that change starts in the road you live on.
Who can get involved?
At the core of Stokey Energy is a crack team of local residents, all determined to make a practical difference for the community and for climate. We are planning, construction and urban design experts and we’ve got a big job to do.
But it’s about much more than us. We’re a co-operative organisation, and we know our neighbours are people with a wide range of talents and expertise - we’re open to all and we’d love you to contribute.
Who are we for?
If your first reaction to the thought of solar panels or a greener home is “difficult” - you are our reason for being.
Whether you’re a a property owner, a renter, or a school, business or community, our aim is to be able to help you: whether it’s working with you to put solar panels on your roof, directing you towards greener suppliers, or simply offering you practical energy-saving tips.
